About Dapper Owl
After living in the UK for a decade Dapper Owl combines Tracy's love of coffee shops and pubs. Tracy and Nina, the owners, wanted to create a place of inclusivity and warmth. A place where comfort meets great coffee. They wanted to bring that warm pub feeling to The Boro, so you can start your day with a coffee and end it here relaxing with a craft beer.
About The Owners
Nina grew up in Oregon, the home of locally owned coffee shops. The coffee experience played a huge part of her teenage years, from enjoying a cup after classes to the occasional skipping school to go hang out at her favorite shop. Nina is an espresso aficionado. Her world travels coupled with her Italian heritage makes Nina an expert when it comes to that perfect espresso shot.
Having lived abroad for many years, Tracy is happy to be back to her roots and family in middle Tennessee. Tracy, and her daughter, Dapper Owl Pastry Chef, Emily, are Tennessee natives. Her brother, Jason, has called Murfreesboro home for many years. Tracy understands the value of family more than ever and is happy and proud to make Murfreesboro and Tennessee her home again.
Tracy is a true coffee connoisseur. As a former business owner in the optical industry to her years of retail operations she is realizing a dream. She feels as though she has come full circle. “Now is time to connect and have fun, we need this now more than ever.” Her favorite menu item is The Bonfire Night Iced Latte. It’s warm, cozy and tastes like an autumn morning. She loves it so much that it’s on the menu all year!
Emily fell in love with baking while living in the UK and traveling through Europe. Upon returning to the states, Emily attended culinary school at the New England School of Culinary Arts in Montpelier, Vermont where she studied Pastry Arts. Emily completed her internship at the Harvest Restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts and she is happy to bring her skills to the local community.
Our Signature Lattes
The Polly – The Polly is based on a character from Peaky Blinders and the great Helen McCrory who portrayed her. Helen died of cancer in 2021 and we wanted a drink to represent a strong woman and celebrate her talent. The Polly, sweet and strong.
Beehive – It’s all about the honey with the beehive. It’s simple and refreshing.
Wicked Lady – The Wicked Lady was Tracy’s favorite pub in England. It’s sweet and with a dash of cinnamon and is her way of paying homage.
Bonfire Night – November 5 is Guy Fawkes Day in the UK. It is observed with bonfires, fireworks, food, and parades. The drink represents a beautiful autumn day with maple, cinnamon, and caramel.
